Condoms have not been consistently proven effective in preventing HPV, which is the most common viral STD. 22
Some of the most common STDs are contracted from “skin to skin”or “skin to sore” contact on areas not covered by a condom. 23
Researchers at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, found that even when adults knew their partner had HIV, only 1 in 6 reported consistent condom usage.24
